Why is chiropractic care great for children? The birth process is very tough on both mothers and babies. There are numerous forces being exerted onto a newborn baby throughout the birthing process. An American osteopathic doctor, Viola Fryman, studied TSX of birth trauma and the associated strain through the neck and head areas following birth. She found that 90% of newborns suffered the effects of birth trauma. This study included more than 1,500 babies across an eight year period. She examined many of the babies within the first 24 hours, and all of them within the first five days. The study showed that 10% had perfect, freely mobile skulls and cranial mechanisms. 10% had severe trauma to the head even evident to untrained observers. The remaining 80% all had some strain patterns in the cranial mechanism.
The birth process can take on many different forms and can be quite traumatic. With every birth being unique, there is a great likelihood that the baby suffered some sort of strain due to a variety of reasons. Even the most natural births can result in trauma that goes undetected. The trauma from the birth process remains under publicized, and therefore results in significantly under treated problems.
